ActionCOACH and Brazil

Of all the nations hit by the world-wide recession, Brazil seems to be one of the quickest to recover. Thanks to this recovery, our nation offers great opportunities for entrepreneurs who want to take advantage of the strongest economy in South America.

Characterized by large and well-developed agricultural, mining, manufacturing, and service sectors, the Brazilian economy outweighs that of all other South American countries and it is expanding its presence in world markets.

The government committed to improving the economy in 2003, and our economic stability has improved considerably. The government has done this by building up foreign reserves, reducing our debt profile through shifting our debt burden, adhering to an inflation target, and committing to fiscal responsibility.

Things got a bit shaky with onset of the global financial crisis in September 2008, following record growth in Brazil for 2007 and 2008, but growth is happening again in Brazil.

For a time, Brazil’s currency and stock market, the Bovespa, saw large swings as foreign investors pulled resources out of the country.

Brazil experienced two quarters of recession, as global demand for our commodity-based exports dwindled and external credit dried up. However, Brazil was one of the first emerging markets to begin a recovery.

In 2008, Brazil became a net external creditor and two ratings agencies awarded investment grade status to its debt. More importantly, consumer and investor confidence has been rejuvenated and the growth of our Gross Domestic Product returned to positive in the second quarter of 2009.

This all means that now is a great time to get your business running the way you want it to. The government has made a commitment to the economy and now it is up to the people to build business that create a better community and a better Brazil.
